Sylvie Desrosiers, Chair and Artistic Committee

Initially from the lineage of Peter Boneham and Le Groupe de la Place Royale, Sylvie Desrosiers is now Artistic Director of DORSALE danse, and founder and Director of the Contemporary Dance Diploma Programme of The School of Dance. As a choreographer Sylvie Desrosiers has presented her work in several Canadian cities including Ottawa, Gatineau, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. In her career spanning over 25 years, she has created works including douce tourmente a duet for performers Marc Boivin and Heidi Strauss, à tire d’aile, flots, glace, épaves, distance and the trilogy Vestibulaire. With DORSALE danse she produced the performances TOUT danse, fougue, projet Brut, and douce tourmente. Sylvie Desrosiers is a founding member of Ottawa Dance Directive (ODD) / Centre de danse contemporaine, is the 2011 winner of the Prix pour la création artistique du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec pour la région de l’Outaouais and is laureate of the Ottawa Arts Council 2017 Victor Tolgesy Arts Award.
